ABOUT US

The Pirouette Project is a student run, not for profit organization that focuses on the significant problems in the dance world.

Our current focus is the returning of typically single use costumes back to underprivileged communities. The amount of waste produced by both the manufacturing and disposing of dance costumes is a relatively unaddressed problem in the dance community of San Diego. The Pirouette Project aims to provide an easy channel for the collection and donation of dance costumes within the community.

Our outreach seeks to span from as close as south San Diego County, to preschools in Hawaii, orphanages, community centers and dance studios in Mexico, and, eventually, expanding to third world countries in other continents as we connect with organizations in Africa.

Our mission is to spread the love of dance, but more importantly, the accessibility of dance to everyone, everywhere. We seek to offer opportunities for families and dance studios to get involved in giving back to their community.
